Janasamskriti was founded in the year 1980 as a progressive socio- cultural organisation devoted to evolving a confluence of social, ethnic and cultural groups of the national capital of Delhi and surrounding areas. The basic perception of the founders was that cultural and social activities should have a distinctive political approach and should motivate efforts to build a just and egalitarian society. This perspective differentiated Janasamskriti from the umpteen other socio- cultural organisations. Janasamskriti is one of the largest socio- cultural organizations in the country with a wide membership base spread across National Capital Region of Delhi.
Janasamskriti is a progressive socio- cultural organization with strength of over 12,000 members spread over 20 branches in and around Delhi. The significance of this organization in Delhi, where people of disparate cultures live, is so pronounced that it strives to harmonize the people of diverse culture, respecting, at the same time, their cultural identities. It has been organizing cultural programs of performing and non- performing arts, seminars, lectures etc. since its formation in 1980. Janasamskriti's past years have justified this perspective and in the process helped it grow into one of the largest socio-cultural organizations in the country spread over Delhi, parts of Haryana and Utter Pradesh. janasamskriti's cultural and social initiatives such as theater and art festivals, lectures and seminars attract mass participation and evoke extensive response.
